The beauty of photographing the ocean is as relaxing as walking beside it. When we step into our landscape photographer role we should always look closer and see the ocean as its own entity, focussing on the small details that she gives us. The feelings of calm, rage and exhilaration. She is a sexual wonderment, surging, pulsing and flowing around us.
Last night I spent time at sunset, looking closer, making pictures and getting wet. The light was coming in perfectly with warm air surrounding the beach. The perfect atmosphere for making pictures. I screwed on my 24mm tilt shift lens, using a large aperture and shifting the lens to extremes to make the shallow depth I wanted. My aim to focus only on a small part of the ocean, her details and accents, forcing the viewers to look where I want them. The performance was amazing, with the oceans twists, turns and pulsating rhythms in betweens the calm smooth spells.
Last night was a great night to make pictures and has inspired me for a longer series. These pictures are available for sale as framed fine art prints.

With the cooler weather upon us and warm sun kissed nights becoming a memory, I’d just love to give you that warm fuzzy glow for your day. A series of pictures made for a free spirit, friend and Hula dancer performing within the setting of the amazing Maslins beach in South Australia. The sun beats down as she skips lightly across the hot sand like a butterfly pollinating our souls with summer
Dance is such an amazing motion to photograph, it lifts us up and takes us to another place. Please enjoy these pictures and where they take you. See you there.
Before I begin, I’d like to say a massive thanks to my friend Tallara for allowing me to showcase her story. I am totally thrilled to bits that she was so happy with the pictures that we made on this summers day. Thank you Tallara
Story telling and photojournalistic portrait is part of my photography that I truly love. This is not a new story, or anything that is unusual to us, but its a story that we all love and think about.
The place we all dream of, is a place where our minds can release, gather and embrace. As all of our worries, solutions and wishes are lifted and enlightened.
The warm sun kissed afternoon with just the softest breeze feathering her skin brings her alive and opens her eyes wide.
Alone a girl of nature walks with her thoughts only to share with the earth. She knows who she is and makes her stand with confidence. Nothing will bring her down when she is here!
As the hot sand on her feet radiates and brings her to earth, here she can resolve and with resolve she can grow.
The ocean brings her cleansing, as each wave rythmically swells back and forth its washes over her. It is cool and fresh and wakes her mind and invigorates her body. Its power is un-fathomable and translates it message across the globe to her.
As the sun settles into the horizon and explodes its rays of power over her a girl of nature becomes strong.
Taken from the first creative session in my new Adelaide CBD space on Grote street.
So, Ive just moved into a new Studio in the CBD as part of the renowned Adelaide Art collective, Central Studios. So to help me give it a work out. Im aiming to make some new images towards an exhibition project Im working on at the moment. LUCID PORTRAIT
Im building a body of work towards this project for an exhibition within the year. As yet I don’t have a venue for the exhibition, but I do have a few venues in mind Im thinking about for this. With that said, I am always open for suggestions.
The pictures are art based images, and so far I have made the images as clothed and using natural materials. I am now looking to work the series into nudes, I feel the simplicity of the human form will add heaps to the images. Im a believer in making your work different, so my style is very different to match.
The series promotes expression and has a very spiritual feel from another world, passing through a dream state.
I’ll be shooting the next images for the series in my studio space on Grote street (next to Central Market)
With photoshop so well used by most people these days, I just love switching off to it all and creating art in the old fashion way of doing crazy wild things while the camera is in my hands… Some things you can’t do after the picture is taken… and its nowhere near as fun! All the images in the series are made with only one exposure.
Please enjoy this set from the series. Prints will be available to purchase, and commissions accepted, please get in touch for details
Did you know that I have a specially designed setup within my studio for shooting products? So spring is just around the corner and we have some time for breathing again after a long wet and cold Adelaide winter. I have a heap of things I want to do personally… and as a photographer. First off, I plan on spending more time in the ocean, surfing more and once again living at the beach!
…But photography, oh wow, I have some plans for my work this summer! Aside from my current project “The Kombi Sessions”, which is a photojournalistic portrait looking into the lives of South Australian VeeDub Kombi owners. I want to take a little bit of focus on couples. I photographs so many families and one thing I have learned from all of the amazing people I meet, is that very few of them (Mum and Dad) have had any really beautiful images together. Everybody tells me “we’ve not had our picture taken since our wedding” or for some, just the odd camera phone selfie.. which are great, but Im all about quality, making art and taking picture making to the next level.
This spring and summer, I want to bring all of you cute couples together in pictures, tell a little of your story. As with many of my portraits, specially my outdoor location work, I tend to lean towards a photojournalistic approach as I just love real life and unposed pictures, whats happening now really counts.
It’s pretty simple, just call me and we’ll shoot off somewhere amazing and make some photographs together and tell an intimate story that you can watch grow.
South Australia has some amazing beaches and parks with such beautiful vistas. I caught up with these girls at the tail end of summer on one of Adelaide’s mid coast beaches. Such a cute day!
So this weekend we spent the evening on Friday 14th in Elder Park, Adelaide. A monthly gathering of fire artists meet and basically.. share some amazing skills! The circle around the fire artists featured a warm glowing array of people and colours who were there to enjoy the evening. The crowds of around 200 were all rugged up carrying smiles. It was a great turn out!
Over the course of the evening, different artists took to the centre to play and show their skills which have obviously been fine tuned to such an awesome degree… But its all made to look so simple and thats the beauty! Chatting briefly with Tim Goddard the dude behind the event, he was saying that there is a lot of practice that goes into the performance and of course much of it for beginners and more experience artist trying new techniques without fire too.
Safety is also key in an event like this and no issues what so ever happened and the whole event was trouble free with such an amazing vibe. An awesome family friendly event
An array of cameras were present, with photographers also practicing their skills in long exposure photography. Ive already seen some amazing light painting images with super effects that create beautiful pieces of art. I was without a tripod as I wanted to capture some still photojournalistic images thats shows the mood of the evening in reality. But here is a couple of links to some friends I was with who were shooting the awesome arty work. Check them out! 🙂
